For your safe, enjoyable, and eco-friendly stay at Sundarbans: Keep it simple;
nature and local culture are best preserved in the hands of the people.
Do’s
- Avoid drinking tap water – opt for filtered or coconut water.
- Carry water in metal bottles – Sundarbans is a No Plastic Zone.
- Pack light snacks and fruits for your trip.
- Bring skincare products, sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen.
- Carry cash – ATMs are rare, mostly available in Gosaba (SBI).
- Keep essential medicines (cough, cold, stomach ailments).
- Always keep a torch and spare batteries.
- Carry spare camera batteries – replacements may not be available locally.
Don’ts
- Do not bring plastic bags – Sundarbans is a No Plastic Zone.
- Don’t harm the habitat – avoid throwing anything into rivers/forests.
- Avoid playing loud music or shouting – it disturbs wildlife.
- Do not get out of the boat without permission.
- Do not enter the Tiger Reserve – it is strictly off limits.
- Stay only between sunrise and sunset – no night stays inside the forest.
- Avoid offenses like hunting, fishing, or damaging flora.
- Respect local customs – avoid insulting traditions.
- Do not start fires or smoke inside protected areas.
- Avoid night driving in protected zones.
- Do not enter restricted zones or the core area.
- Avoid making unnecessary noise.
- Carrying firearms or firecrackers is prohibited.
- Don’t litter – even fruit peels.
- Do not feed animals.
- Avoid rash driving (>20 km/h).
- Do not leave the lodge without a guide.
- Avoid using flash while photographing animals.
- Do not bathe in the river.
- Misbehavior, misconduct, or drunk behavior is not permitted.
